Unfortunately this game has been canceled due to weather, reverting back to the original forfeit as Rheine could not field a full team. As a result, the Barflies notch a win with a score of 0:9.

We hosted the Paderborn Untouchables III this past Sunday. With just 9, or defense kept it close until giving up 6 in the seventh. Our offense couldn’t get things going though against the lefties, even ending the game early with two great picks by #47 of PB. Even so, both teams showed great sportsmanship throughout. It’s always a pleasure playing against the Untouchables.

Yesterday, the Bochum Barflies faced off against their A43 rivals, the Marl Slydogs, in a thrilling 9-inning showdown at home. Despite starting with a skeleton crew of just 11 players—including Fabiano making his baseball debut after only a few weeks with the team—the Barflies showed incredible resilience! 💪

Things didn’t start great for the Barflies, giving up 10 runs in the top of the first due to some fielding mishaps. But a strong 4-run response in the bottom of the inning kept us in the game, and our defense tightened up to keep Marl off the board in the second inning with a key double play to end their attack. ⚾️

Marl only managed a few single-run innings and a two-run inning after that, thanks to stellar pitching by Adrien and Theis on the mound. Justus made a spectacular play, robbing Marl of a home run right at the fence! 🧤

On offense, we kept chipping away. After the seventh-inning stretch, the Barflies caught fire with a huge 5-run explosion to pull within one run in the seventh and tie it in the eighth. 🔥 Marl answered back with a run in the ninth, bringing in their starter to close the game in an attempt to hold their lead.

With daylight fading and knowing a tie would leave the game unresolved until a later date, the Barflies came out swinging for the win! With runners on second and third and one out, Marl surprised us with a sneaky play, picking off the runner at third with the left fielder making the tag. But the Barflies kept their cool with now two outs, showing great plate discipline as two batters battled from two strikes down to draw walks.

With the bases loaded, a hit-by-pitch brought in the tying run. Then, our cleanup hitter Adrien—already 6 for 6 with two doubles—stepped up. With a full count and the crowd holding their breath, the final pitch missed the zone, bringing in the winning run! 🥳

FINAL SCORE: Barflies 17, Slydogs 16 🎉

It was an incredible 4-hour and 15-minute battle, overcoming so many obstacles to secure an amazing upset over the Slydogs! A huge shoutout to our amazing fans who kept cheering us on, even when things looked tough!

Schwierige Heimniederlage gegen Minden

Die Bochum Barflies mussten eine herausfordernde Partie zuhause gegen die Minden Millers hinnehmen und verloren mit 24:4 nach 7 Innings. Minden ging früh in Führung und erzielte 4 Runs im oberen Teil des ersten Innings. Die Barflies versuchten im unteren Teil des Innings zu antworten und brachten die ersten beiden Schlagmänner auf Base, doch ein Double Play bremste ihren Schwung.

Im oberen Teil des zweiten Innings erfolgte ein früher Pitcherwechsel für die Barflies, doch Minden nutzte die Gelegenheit und erzielte weitere fünf Runs. Bochum zeigte im unteren Teil des vierten Innings Lebenszeichen und erzielte ihre einzigen vier Runs des Tages, was dem Team und den Fans Hoffnung gab.

Die Verteidigung der Barflies stabilisierte sich und gab insgesamt nur 3 Runs in den Innings 3, 4 und 5 ab. Doch im sechsten Inning stieß der Reliever an seine Grenzen und ließ 3 weitere Runs zu. Ein Pitcherwechsel brachte sie aus dem Inning, aber das siebte Inning wurde schwierig. Der Reliever, der im sechsten Inning Erfolg hatte, fand nicht mehr die Strikezone und Minden erzielte 9 Runs, um das Spiel zu besiegeln.

Trotz der Niederlage gab es herausragende Leistungen von Tobi (2 Hits, 1 Run), Kevin (1 Hit, 2 RBIs) und Ilia (1 Hit, 1 Run, 2 gestohlene Bases).

Wow, what a game! The Bochum Barflies just served up a baseball feast, topping the Lippstadt Ochmoneks in a wild 20-28 showdown that had fans on the edge of their seats for a whopping 4 and a half hours! 🎉⚾️

From the get-go, the Barflies were buzzing with energy, dominating the first two innings with rock-solid defense and some serious firepower at the plate. They were racking up runs left and right, fueled by singles, doubles, walks—you name it, they were hitting it! But hold onto your hats, folks, because Lippstadt wasn’t about to roll over and play dead.

In a nail-biting turn of events, Lippstadt rallied back, turning Bochum’s defensive errors into a run-scoring frenzy in the fifth inning. It was like watching a fireworks show on the field as they blasted ahead, taking the lead at 14-9. But did the Barflies panic? Heck no! They dug deep, rallied together, and launched a counterattack of epic proportions in the bottom of the fifth.

Picture this: bases loaded, tension thick enough to cut with a knife, and then BOOM! The Barflies unleashed an offensive onslaught that would make any baseball fan’s heart skip a beat. They stormed back with an incredible 11 runs before the first out, turning the game on its head and leaving Lippstadt scratching their heads in disbelief. And they weren’t done yet! They tacked on three more runs for a grand total of 14 in the fifth inning alone. Now that’s what I call a comeback! 🚀

And just when you thought the drama was over, think again! Lippstadt fought tooth and nail to claw their way back into the game, keeping the pressure on until the very last out. But the Barflies stood tall, showing nerves of steel as they shut down Lippstadt’s final rally in the ninth inning with some jaw-dropping defensive plays.

In the end, it was a true thriller of a game, with both teams leaving it all on the field. The final score speaks for itself: Bochum 28, Lippstadt 20. But hey, let’s give a shoutout to some standout players—Brueckmann was an absolute beast out there, tearing it up with 6 hits, including 4 singles and 2 doubles, plus 3 stolen bases and 5 runs! And let’s not forget about Noa-Bolano, who was lighting up the scoreboard with 3 hits, 3 walks, 2 singles, 1 double, and 6 runs of his own! 🌟
