Sonntag der 08.05.2022 und erneut hieß es: Sommer, Sonne, Sonnenschein und ääh Bier. Nicht nur das Wetter konnte an der guten Performance vom letzten Spiel anknüpfen, auch die Spieler der Bochum Barflies zeigten sich im Spiel gegen die Hochdahl Neandertaler wieder von ihrer Schokoladenseite. Nach einer kurzen Schnupperphase mit 0 Runs im 1. Inning drehten beide Teams im 2. und 3. Inning an der Platte voll auf, so dass es am Anfang des 4. Innings zwischenzeitlich 3 zu 3 stand.
Während die Bochumer das Tempo an der Platte (3 Homeruns im gesamten Spiel), in der Defensive und beim Pitchen hoch hielten, wurde es für die Hochdahler immer schwieriger mitzuhalten. So kamen Sie zwar häufig auf die Base, konnten die Runs aber nicht nach Hause bringen. Auch wenn das Match so dann klar mit 14 zu 4 nach dem 7 Inning zu Ende ging, war es doch für beide Teams ein durchweg spannendes und faires Baseballspiel.
Weiter ein guter Saisonstart also für die Bochum Barflies. Bleibt nur zu Hoffen, dass im nächsten Spiel -dieses mal gegen die Hagen Chipmunks- am 22.05 eine ähnlich gute Leistung abgerufen werden kann.
Bochum Barflies Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory
The Hochdahl Neandertaler watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-4 loss to the Bochum Barflies on Sunday. The Barflies took the lead on a single in the second inning.
Hochdahl struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Barflies, giving up 14 runs.
The Barflies got things moving in the second inning, when S Balk singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
The Barflies scored five runs in the sixth inning. The Barflies batters contributing to the big inning included Brückmann and Penger, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Balk was the winning pitcher for the Barflies. The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out two and walking one. Penger and Theis entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Penger recorded the last 11 outs to earn the save for the Barflies.
Hallmann took the loss for the Neandertaler. The bulldog surrendered nine runs on 13 hits over five innings, striking out four.
The Barflies tallied three home runs on the day. P Balk had a dinger in the third inning. Penger had a homer in the sixth inning. Balk went for the long ball in the fourth inning.
Emtiazi led the Neandertaler with four hits in four at bats.
The Barflies racked up 17 hits on the day. Brückmann, Balk, Penger, and Balk each managed multiple hits for Bochum Barflies. The Barflies stole nine bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Brückmann led the way with two.

Hochmotiviert und gut gelaunt trafen die Bochumer Spieler pünktlich am Platz im Anemonenweg 14 ein, um mit ausreichend Zeit das Feld für das um 15 Uhr angesetzte Spiel gegen die Düsseldorf Senators vorzubereiten. Nach langer Vorbereitung in der Halle und bei diesem doch recht milden Frühjahr auch frühzeitig draußen auf dem Platz, war der Hunger auf Wettkampf und Spiele groß. Auch auf Seiten der Düsseldorfer war der Siegeswille deutlich spürbar, denn die gingen nach dem ersten Inning vorerst mit 3 zu 1 in Führung. Ab dem zweiten Inning konnten die Bochumer ihre Schmetterlinge im Bauch aber gut vertreiben und der Schalter wurde auf „Runs-Erzielen“ gelegt.
Sowohl beim Pitching, als auch an der Platte ließen die Barflies den Düsseldorfern wenig Spielraum. Es gab 7 Doubles und ein Tripple mit insgesamt 18 RBIs. Eine solide Leistung also, die mit einem Endergebnis von 21 zu 6 Runs für die Heimmannschaft belohnt wurde.
Mit viel Aufschwung und neuen Erkenntnissen geht es also in die nächste Trainingswoche, damit das kommende Match ähnlich gut ausgeht.
Five RBI Day For Patrick Balk Leads Bochum Barflies Past NRW Düsseldorf Senators
P Balk was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Sunday, driving in five on three hits to lead Bochum Barflies past Düsseldorf Senators II 21-6 on Sunday. Balk drove in runs on a single in the second, a double in the fourth, and a single in the fifth.
The Barflies collected 24 hits and Düsseldorf Senators had seven in the high-scoring affair.
The Senators got on the board in the first inning. Rockel drove in one when Rockel singled.
Bochum pulled away for good with seven runs in the second inning. In the second Bunse singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Balk singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Schulz doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, and Sinev doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Kris Theis pitched Bochum Barflies to victory. The righthander surrendered six runs on six hits over four and a third innings, striking out seven. S Balk threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Kolter took the loss for Düsseldorf Senators II. Kolter went three innings, allowing 11 runs on 12 hits and striking out five.
Bochum tallied 24 hits on the day. Balk, Marcel Penger, Brückmann, Bunse, Sinev, Schulz, Froning, and Theis all collected multiple hits for Bochum Barflies. Schulz, Sinev, Bunse, Brückmann, Penger, and Balk each collected three hits to lead Bochum Barflies. The Barflies tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Froning led the way with three.
Zander led the Senators with three hits in three at bats.
