Es war ein sonniger Samstag, also ein perfekter Tag um Baseball zu spielen. Die Spielgemeinschaft aus Marl und Bochum zu Gast bei den Flying Bats in Duisburg. Playball war 13 Uhr. Erneut eine gute Gelegenheit für die Spieler aus Bochum und Marl sich kennenzulernen und auch für die neuen Spieler Spielerfahrung zu sammeln. So wurden erneut Positionen ausprobiert und es wurde viel rotiert. Das kam den gut eingespielten Duisburgern natürlich zu Gute. Während die Spielgemeinschaft viel zu Besprechen hatte, konzentrierten sich die Gegner auf das Erzielen von Runs – und waren damit von Anfang an sehr erfolgreich. Nichtsdestotrotz wollte man das Spiel nicht leichtfertig aus der Hand geben und nach ein paar Anpassungen im Feld konnte der ein oder andere Run auf Seiten der Spielgemeinschaft eingefahren werden.
Der kurze Erfolgsschub wurde aber schnell durch gutes Pitching und einer soliden Defense der Dusiburger eingedämpft. Am Ende stand es somit verdient 12 zu 2 für die Duisburg Flying Bats.
Dennoch ein erfolgreicher Einstieg für die Spieler der Spielgemeinschaft – nur wer seine Fehler erkennt, kann besser werden. Somit auf dem Trainingsplan für diese Woche: Kommunikation & Teamgeist.
PS: Bevor das Spiel begonnen hat, gab es eine Schweigeminute für die Opfer des Angriffskriegs Putins gegen die Ukraine, was an dieser Stelle nochmal besonders hervorzuheben ist.

Bochum Barflies II vs Rheine Mavericks II
BarLiz 2 Overcomes Rheine Mavericks 2 In Face Of Early 3-Run Inning
Even though BarLiz II gave up three runs in the third inning, they still defeated Rheine Mavericks II 10-4 on Saturday. Rheine Mavericks II scored its runs on a single by Pöttker.
BarLiz II opened up scoring in the first inning, when Tonk grounded out, scoring one run.
BarLiz II tallied four runs in the sixth inning. Schulz, Eaglestone, Beargie, and Arldt each had RBIs in the frame.
Tonk was credited with the victory for BarLiz II. He went six innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out ten. Schulz threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Fontein took the loss for Rheine Mavericks II. She surrendered six runs on four hits over three innings, striking out three.
BarLiz II totaled ten hits. Arldt, Krause, and Eaglestone all had multiple hits for BarLiz II. Arldt led BarLiz II with three hits in four at bats.

BarLiz II Can’t Catch Up To Ennepetal Raccoons II
BarLiz II watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 20-0 loss to Ennepetal Raccoons II on Saturday. Ennepetal Raccoons II scored on a groundout by Mellentim and an error during Settimo’s at bat in the first inning.
The BarLiz II struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Ennepetal Raccoons II, giving up 20 runs.
Ennepetal Raccoons II got things moving in the first inning, when Mellentim grounded out, scoring one run.
One bright spot for BarLiz II was a single by Krause in the third inning.
Settimo was the winning pitcher for Ennepetal Raccoons II. He lasted five innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out four.
Beargie took the loss for BarLiz II. He allowed one hit and four runs over two innings.
Eaglestone, Barroso Mayeta, Beargie, and Krause each collected one hit to lead BarLiz II.
Ennepetal Raccoons II tallied eight hits in the game. Mellentim and Krempel all managed multiple hits for Ennepetal Raccoons II. Ennepetal Raccoons II tore up the base paths, as five players stole at least two bases. Jähnke led the way with three. Ennepetal Raccoons II was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Sarasa made the most plays with five.
