Despite Strong Fight, BarLiz II Can’t Top Dortmund Wanderers III
The BarLiz II effort to come back from down five runs in the sixth inning came up just short, as they fell 21-20 to Dortmund Wanderers III on Saturday. The BarLiz II scored four runs in the failed comeback on three errors.
Both teams exchanged the lead back-and-forth in the game, but Dortmund Wanderers III eventually took the lead for good thanks to a double in the sixth inning.
Dortmund Wanderers 3 captured the lead in the first inning when Bredehmhorn singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
In the top of the fourth inning, BarLiz 2 tied things up at ten when D Wenk singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
BarLiz 2 put up eight runs in the fourth inning. Marco Warnath, Raul Barroso Mayeta, Wenk, Hendrick Gerhardt, Robert Kunert, and Patrick Schulz all drove in runs in the frame.
Wiederstein pitched Dortmund Wanderers 3 to victory. He allowed ten hits and 14 runs over four innings, striking out seven.
Warnath took the loss for BarLiz 2. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing 20 hits and 16 runs while striking out three.
Tobias Kramer started the game for Dortmund Wanderers 3. He went three innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out four Peter Beargie started the game for BarLiz 2. He surrendered five runs on one hit over one-third of an inning
BarLiz 2 totaled 16 hits. Wenk, Jeff Eaglestone, Warnath, and Kunert all collected multiple hits for BarLiz 2. Wenk led BarLiz 2 with four hits in six at bats.
Dortmund Wanderers 3 collected 21 hits on the day. Kramer, Peterhanwahr, Eitzert, De Luca, Johnson, Ramos Arias, Schäfers, and Wiederstein each managed multiple hits for Dortmund Wanderers 3.
Kramer went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Dortmund Wanderers 3 in hits. Eitzert led Dortmund Wanderers 3 with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 19 stolen bases.
